Years ago, during COVID-19, when I first invited to speak, I spoke to socially-distanced crowds of maybe 25 people at times.
It was discouraging to spend all that time and effort to deliver a message you put your heart and soul into to such a small crowd.
But God was working something deeper in me— working out a humility and willingness to serve even when my flesh longed for a bigger crowd.
Today, when I looked at the staggering crowd, I got nervous. I really began to wonder if I still had my voice.
But then I felt God’s gentle whisper, “Remember your prayer that you prayed before? That you wished you could preach with the same zeal and fire to a crowd of any size? You did it for 25 people. Now you can do it for a thousand.”
I love how God takes His time to train us, then flips the table back at us.
