As many of you know, over the past year, I’ve worked hard in therapy. As I’ve wrestled with both faith and medicine in my recovery from pain—both physical and emotional—I found myself going on a deep-dive learning journey into the neuroscience, biology and spirituality of trauma.
I’m so grateful that so many of you have journeyed with me.
Along the way, I felt led to interview some of the world’s leading voices in trauma recovery, faith and healing to unpack some of the hardest questions I faced:
- What exactly is trauma?
- How do I integrate my faith with psychotherapy?
- What does it really mean to heal?
To be honest, some of these conversations were uncomfortable.
They challenge much of what we’ve been taught about honour, loyalty, truth-telling, suffering and healing.
But they’ve also been deeply illuminating, opening up conversations that many would otherwise shy away from having.
My hope is that by curating them into an entire podcast season, I can hold those hard conversations with you as we journey together.
Because I believe healing happens best when we know we’re not alone.
And sometimes, healing begins when we realise that the communities around us may not always be the safest ones.
If you’ve been here long enough, you’ll know I don’t shy away from difficult questions about faith, medicine, trauma and their limitations—or how we can recover our agency to heal.
You don’t have to agree with everything discussed on the podcast.
My hope is simply that these conversations invite reflection, curiosity and compassion—both for ourselves and for one another.
