I feel so much gratitude whenever strangers write to me and tell me how grateful they are for me putting into words what they couldn’t.
Because I’m grateful for the chance to put into words what I once couldn’t, and the privilege of having you read and resonate with it.
As much as you feel seen,
I feel seen, too.
Once upon a time I lived in fear under the helicoptering and monitoring of people in power in my life constantly reading between the lines of my words and using my words as weapons against me.
I’m not in that fearful place anymore.
I will, as far as I can, never allow someone else’s opinion to intimidate me into silence or self-censorship anymore.
For one, I no longer answer phone calls. I will not let anyone call me in the middle of my day to give me a rant of how unhappy they are with something I’ve written.
Words are so sacred.
They are the distillation of the metabolization of our pain, the produce of chemistry in our healing.
Thank you for reading them.
