What do you do when you go through a hard day? Or season?
I think it’s wise, not inauthentic, to hold back from over sharing with our little ones. It’s healthy for them to be kids, not our spouses or partners.
Yet I’m always amazed how they say the timeliest things. My 8-year old floats through the room and announces effortlessly to me when I’m lost in my thoughts, “You’re doing so great, Mum!”
And I find a gift made from my empty medicine bottle and wild grass, with my 6-year old telling me, “This is to remind you of us when you see it and we are asleep,” accompanied by a note on my armchair that brings tears to my eyes.
