This weekend, we celebrated finally returning the keys of our old house to our now ex-landlord.
While we live with uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring, without knowing where our “forever home” in Tanzania might be, we are grateful for simple joys daily, of being together, of serving with purpose, of knowing that in spite of this- it doesn’t stop us from building friendships, sowing into lives, making a difference.
Life doesn’t have to stop because one aspect of our lives is filled with uncertainty.
When i feel overwhelmed momentarily, i love creating something new with our girls.

Thankful for the gift of liquid chalk just before we left Singapore. No matter how long we have to live out of suitcases for, I hope I’ll always be strategic in how I pack so our girls never feel any lack.
This is a mobile bus home with a home attached to it.

And with every home, comes what our girls call “new experiences.”
So while it’s still winter here in Tanzania, they’ve asked for a bonfire every evening in this home till we travel to the next one.
We oblige when we can!

But yes, baking- like parenting, is not perfect every time.
Congratulate me for my intelligence as I show you my accidental-gluten-free-ugly chocolate oat cookies I’d made for a gathering because I forgot to add the main ingredient, flour!

I was so sad to have to throw them away and show up at the gathering empty handed when my girls stopped me, tasted them and insisted, “NO MAMA, THESE ARE SO GOOD! JUST TELL PEOPLE THEY ARE GLUTEN FREE!”
So indeed, I served them with ice cream as a tuile and it was a success!
I love the optimism of our girls- how they keep seeing the good of every situation, even when I can’t. Tried them again and these look about right!
