Someone called me out yesterday for needing to be in control when it comes to planning my life.
I was poised to defend myself when I realized- it’s true.
So you can imagine— how a sudden spine surgery in my neck, and an unexpected torn meniscus in my knee from a recent physiotherapy session threw my plans off course, and then off course, again.
We had planned speaking engagements in January, a book tour in the States in February, a farewell event in March— before relocating to Africa.
But with the turn of events again and again, it felt like God was instead calling us to surrender all our plans and simply spend time with Him in the secret place.
This Advent, as I struggle with having my plans wrecked over and over, I’m learning how apt it is for my recovery to coincide with this season of rest, reflection and anticipation of His miracles.
I hope this will encourage you- to take a look at your calendar, surrender everything on it, and finally, choose the better thing.
