“Are you free to meet?”
It had been 15 years. When my social worker/therapist who treated me for anorexia over a decade ago reached out to me to purchase my calligraphy artwork and meet me for coffee, my heart leaped.
“Out of all my clients, you were the only one who ever walked out of my room!”
I remembered. Yet, it was that very meeting that became the turning point of my recovery.
Shortly after, she delivered her third child and became a SAHM.
I never saw her again.
All these years, I wanted to thank her in person for changing my life but never had the chance to.
Last Saturday, how surreal it felt to be able to do so, to have her see how my life has changed because of her. To hear how she, over the years, had heard of how I’d progressed from others.
I’m now a doctor, helping to save lives (although differently!) the way she did mine.
Today, if you’re wondering whether you or a friend has an eating disorder, don’t be afraid to get professional help. 💛 Google. Look for practical resources. Attend a support group at @betterlifepsychmed (see IGS for details on the support group running tonight!) You’re not less spiritual for getting professional help.
Buy a friend a copy of “A Taste of Rainbow” at www.kitesong.sg/books 🌈
It could change yr life. 💛
