“Am I failing again?”
Recently, during a stressful season, I wondered if an old struggle had returned to haunt me.
After all, nobody wants to smell defeat.
But when I thought about it, I realized how dangerous it is for us to think, “Man, I’ve blown it, might as well give up.” Because it’s that sort of black-and-white thinking that makes someone on a healthy trajectory eat a chip, feel like a failure then binge eat the entire night away, or someone with a pornography addiction feel like he/she can never do away with it.
Have you ever slipped up a little, then felt like you’ve blown it? I know I have. But there is a more compassionate road we can take.
What if I told you recovery wasn’t linear? What if I told you that where you’re at now, no matter how bad it seems, is still better than where you were before because you’ve grown stronger through surviving those previous setbacks?
I always remind myself- that falling forwards is different from simply, falling.
When David was handed Goliath’s sword, I believe something powerful was at play. I hope this revelation encourages you. 💛🔥
If you fail- again, it’s not over.
