“What’s wrong?” Cliff asked. “What’s going on in this little mind?”
Last night, after an on-fire message I’d given wholeheartedly at a beautiful Canadian church, I lay in bed, eyes brimming with tears.
“It’s just… after giving a message on giving God our 5 loaves and EVERYTHING we have, out of our comfort zones, until it hurts, I realize I’m hurting inside. I’m waiting for Him to come through for me to feed the 5 thousand too.”
Those were my own words-
– Challenging people to stretch themselves beyond the monotony of everyday routines to do something different, give of themselves, their finances- to causes bigger than themselves- to experience the radical adventure of miracles of a wonder-working God.
We’d forked thousands of dollars to make this trip to North America as a step of faith to be a part of this faith-based documentary series, only to find out it was worth tens of thousands more. We’d sown $6000 for a testimonial video, only to find out it was worth $33’000.
Yet, in spite of seeing the multitudes fed by bread, my heart hurt at the 5 loaves we’d given up, the savings we’d spent and the magnitude of funds still left to raise for the work ahead.
“Think of what you said- how God will amplify the little you have now. Your current lack is exactly where God wants you to experience so you can see what He can do,” Cliff said.
I awoke this morning- with a five-figure contribution offered by two separate people. We’re still a far, far way off what we need to raise, but God reminded me, He is working. 🍞🐟He is multiplying, even when we feel the pinch of the loss of the five loaves that once belonged to us.
My question to you is- if you think what you have is too little to give, think of the little that five loaves are. If you think you’ve given too much, think of the multitudes that five loaves fed, with 12 basketfuls left over. Even when the little lad lost EVERYTHING he had in his hands.
Think of how God is in this business of using our little to bless the multitudes. All He wants is our little, which is, at the same time, our EVERYTHING.
Radical miracles require radical surrender. Don’t look back.
