In true African style, our meeting was postponed by two hours.
When we arrived, we waited for about an hour to have a half-an-hour meeting to decide that the proper meeting would be on Thursday morning 🙈🤯🤣😣
In the past, this would really have grated on me. But today, instead of being upset— I’m thankful I could see God in so many blessings.
- While waiting, I ended up meeting a very dear inspiration of a friend who just flew in.
- Because of the long wait at the office, we ended up building a deeper friendship with our landlord. (Most landlords here do not care for their tenants.)
- Due to the wait, we ended up discovering the MOST senior ward officer, who took this matter seriously and suggested implementing consequences.
- Even though the meeting was adjourned because the neighbors didn’t show up at the right time, it gave us time to update the senior officer without pressure when we did show up.
- The delay allowed Cliff to rest more, before his medication arrived.
At the end of the meeting, I discovered that two ward officers, the village Chairman, our Swahili teacher and our landlord had all taken time out of their schedules and rallied together to help us.
This was eye opening in many ways, to learn how a different system that’s less reliant on law frameworks, relies on its community to solve its challenges.
💛
We don’t know how the meeting on Thursday will go- but thank you everyone for praying.
