When I struggled recently over a situation that bothered me, I realized I had two options: avoid it, or face it head on.
My breakthrough came when a friend asked me, “What if you told yourself- when you show up to a hard conversation, that is 100% victory already?”
I am learning, that life is not about nailing difficult situations or hard conversations with 100% success.
Nobody can do that. It’s about being authentic to yourself and others, and showing up wholeheartedly to your relationships every day.
As leaders, parents or simply, a growing adult, these are exactly the kinds of conversations needed to help us grow in wisdom and maturity.
Over the years, I’ve had to go on my knees (literally!) in prayer and scour resources to help me navigate through some of life’s toughest conversations— with staff who had to be fired, or people who repeatedly bullied or manipulated others.
I hope what I’ve written here for my own use, distilled from what I’ve learnt from various sources, and having tried and tested what works best for me, will help you find courage in navigating your next hard conversation. 🫦
Remember, it’s not about nailing it. It’s just about doing the hard work of “heart work” within yourself first, allowing God to help you surrender whatever that needs laying down, having the courage to show up, be present and do it. 💛
