When I was a child, I hated writing Chinese calligraphy.
Yet, week after week, I’d to show up for class and write for hours on end.
It was painful. It represented this never-ending chase for perfection to attain something I never wanted in the first place.
So, when I finally won the National Championships, I gleefully trashed it out of my life.
Until now. 20 years later, God led me on a journey to embrace the broken parts of my past to forge something new. I never thought I would ever write again- how could I remember how to?
But a miracle happened. I wrote, no longer to impress or to win man’s approval. I wrote for joy, for a dream in my heart.
Today, if you’re approaching Chinese New Year and all its associated family feuds, tensions and dysfunctions with fear and anxiety, know this- God knows what you’ve been through. Your pain is not for naught.
Every new year brings hope for redemption, renewal and restoration. This year can be different, too.
As I launch “The Dreams Collection,” my hope is that these art pieces hung in our homes can remind us of the renewing power God gives us to live our lives anew.
