I discovered today, when even breathing hurt, that I’ve injured my left intercostal muscles.
And also my left traps and rhomboids.
Yet, the very kind and compassionate physio recommended I not stop my exercise routine, but to go back to it gently after enforced rest for a few days.
In a week of challenging leadership hurdles, it made me reflect…
How it’s easy just to call something quits when we suffer loss and pain.
But if we called it quits every time it happened, we’d never move forward from hard things.
Perhaps, what’s needed, especially in the valleys of the leadership journey, is just a season of rest, recovery and rehabilitation.
I’m grateful that amidst the pain, I could meet with @solvenplus.one‘s founder @hengitsken and glean principles about pro-active crisis management, co-creation and building kingdom culture, especially when times get tough.
It reminded me, that injury and hurt are part of the journey.
It shouldn’t make us quit, but make us stop, reflect and recover.
It may call for a season of going slow—
and there’s no shame in that.
