Yesterday, when I was asked to share my story during CNY service today, I was stunned because I knew it would be a
BILINGUAL service.
“Do you need a translator?”
Ps @limlipyong asked me.
I wanted to say YES.
Yes, I desperately do because I’ve not spoken in mandarin on a public platform since I won a Chinese storytelling competition when I was 12 years old.
But Cliff said,
“NO, you can do this.
God’s not asking you to be perfect. He’s asking that you give it your best shot.”
The church team was very kind and assured me they had a translator for me if I needed one.
But I remembered a secret, silent prayer I made on New Year’s Day of 2023–
That by the end of 2023, I would be able fo preach a full sermon in fluent mandarin.
So, I said, “IT’S OKAY,
I will try.
Pray for me 😅”
What gave me extra courage was my 5-year old Sarah-Faith.
She actually said “I pray Mama will have a good time at Show & Tell.”
My K2 girl!
Before the service started, I received my first invite to speak in 100% mandarin for a Chinese service 😭
God really answers prayers.
I don’t know if I can with my own abilities, but I know by God’s grace I will!
