During my 1st PT session, I had an epiphany-
That to do a single movement requires activating plenty of other muscles.
A chest press is not about the arms and chest only.
It’s about activating the core, lats, glutes, hamstrings and pushing through the heels.
In the same vein, spiritually, whenever we think of serving or ministry, we must never think of ministering or serving others “in isolation.”
I often have people tell me how whenever they serve others, something horrible happens in their marriage, or children. Spiritual warfare is def real.
But I’m also learning – that it’s about being conscious to “activate all the other muscles” we have as well, to really be strong in a movement.
So, to really serve others, for example, we’d need to also “activate our other muscles” and cover our family, relationships, work, health etc in prayer. Prepare those “muscles” as well, to ensure we really hit the mark and lift right.
If not, what happens is we end up doing the movement but at the expense of other muscle groups that get fatigued, at the risk of injury or burnout.
Other parts of our lives suffer.
My PT asked me, “When you go serve in an outbreak, you’re proactive right? You prep right? Same thing- when you do a single chest press, prep your lats, core, glutes, heels first.
By heeding that alone, I lifted more than usual.
“Proactively prep instead of react, prepare yourself holistically, not just in one area- and you’ll be able to lift heavier.”
That’s a spiritual lesson in ministry right there.
