“CAN WE HAVE THIS, MAMA?”
“PLEASE? They’re so cute!”
Sometime last week, as we walked home together, my children pointed to Gingerbread men by the window of a coffee shop and asked for them.
I looked at the price, a gasp rising up inside me.
“I’m sorry, children. These are really expensive. Maybe we can try making them? Or you can pray.”
We walked away, my heart a little heavy, their lips pursed into a quiet pout, struggling to understand. We told no one, not even Papa.
So, you can imagine the shock I had when the very next morning, when I walked into the gym for my daily workout, a sweet Mama friend took out two little Gingerbread girls for me and said, “My son so enjoyed the play date with your girls yesterday. N said he wanted to get these for them.”
I looked at the Gingerbread girls with pink scarf icing, heart filled, my eyes a little teary. They were smaller, the right size and even gender(!) for my little ones. Although I didn’t get them what they wanted, God delivered something better just for them. 🍪
It comforted me to know, that just as much as we desire to fulfill all the whims and fancies of our little ones, our exercise of restraint at times gives room for them to activate faith in their lives, and to see God provide for them in ways beyond our imagination. 💛
As they opened their gifts in shock and glee, I watched them in their favorite dresses, also gifted to us by strangers.
Friends, know this- if you’re in lack and struggling to gift your children what you do not have, our Heavenly Father knows already what you need. You’re an ask away. Keep believing, keep trusting. Keep walking in faith. 🍪
Thank you @junelwp and your little boy for being an extension of God’s grace to us- We won’t ever forget this! 🫶🏽🎄🍪
