Seeing these moments of tenderness- a gentle leading, a pat of empathy, a turning around to say “hey, it’s OK,” warms my heart.
Such is the selfless love of a 5-year old.
Such is the power of someone who believes in you.
In the end, it was our 3-year old who caught multiple fish by herself while our 5-year old sat aside, disappointed.
But it was our 3-year old who turned around to exercise compassion to say, “I catch fish. You let fish go in the tank. WE MAKE A GOOD TEAM!”
As I hugged my 5-year old, I told her, “If it weren’t for you, Meimei (lil sis) would never even have tried. You gave her courage.”
“I’m a good sister.”
You most certainly are.
