My eyes soured.
When I read the text, my heart heaved and swelled.
Months ago, a friend had asked me, “How come you have so many stories of faith about Sarah-Faith? But I hardly ever hear you share testimonies about Esther-Praise.”
I looked at her, stunned.
For months, I offered that question to God- “Do you have favorites? Why does Esther-Praise always get hand-me-downs from her sister?“
Deep down, the question I wanted answered was— do You love us all the same?
I never shared this with anyone, but deep inside, I really wanted to know.
A few weeks ago, God showed up with a lime bush for Esther-Praise, the plant she always wanted! Planted by a random stranger in our community garden plot!
In the same week, a random IG follower reached out to me with clothes- not for Sarah-Faith, but specifically for Esther-Praise. I hadn’t told anyone.
As I watched my 3-year old marvel with wonder at new clothes for herself, I, too sat in awe at what she was teaching me.
All these years whenever Sarah-Faith (my 5-year old) got gifts, Esther-Praise cheered on. In her own childlike way, she was happy to receive the overflow, to luxuriate in the grace and mercy showered upon our household. This time, as she uncovered her goodie bag, the first thing she said was, “I WILL GIVE BIG DRESS TO SARAH-FAITH!”
I felt God speaking— that such can be our hope. Even as I watch others’ receive their breakthroughs, I, like Esther-Praise, can trust that God remembers me and in due time, He will come through for me.
Proverbs 13:12 says- While hope deferred makes a heart sick, a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
Like Esther-Praise, I can be content in every circumstance.
In our waiting, we can hold onto hope.
We can trust that God loves and remembers us.
Friend, He has not forgotten you. ✨ If you’re reading this, He remembers you. 💛
