When I was little, my Dad always said, “Do the right thing. Even if it costs you, do the right thing.”
That meant a lot to me, coming from him— someone who grew up poor, who was hospitalized for malnourishment. “Even if it costs you. Your integrity is more important.”
Recently, a friend jokingly offered to help me buy sportswear once she became a fitness instructor, which was soon, since instructors get special discounts.
I asked, “Can I take your offer up?”
Between two pair of exercise tights, it was frustrating to wash them daily after my workouts. Sometimes, I re-wore them unwashed— kinda gross, I know. 😔🤢
It was then my friend asked for my size, since the rates only apply to the instructor and not their friends. “If we’re same size, it’ll work.”
I felt God whisper the word “integrity” to me. And not to pursue this further. I told no one else, not even Cliff. I didn’t write about this on my blog or social media.
Two days later, an IG follower I’d never met reached out randomly, “I wanna reach out & say that I have some Lululemon stuff that I would like to share with you! We are moving and my mum is asking me to get rid of my stuff.”
The bag arrived. And in it, were sport tops, tights, and everything I needed for my new season of exercise. How uncanny the timing was. I felt God speaking, watching.
As tears filled my eyes, I learned— that when we make the right decision, even if it costs us, God never shortchanges us. I looked at the pile of clothes— I’d never afford them. I’d never have the time to pick them out. But they fit perfectly. He knew.
He is able.
If you, like me on a single part-time income, are struggling with your budget and real desires, know this— God is well aware. If you take care of His integrity, He’ll take care of all you need, and more.
