Q1. I struggle with knowing that God loves such a flawed person like me. I feel kinda down and still disbelief sometimes. How do you remind yourself of His love when you feel down?
This is such a great question. You’ll be surprised that in spite of all God has done in our lives, I still wonder “Huh, maybe God loves this or that person more than me!”
The root of this really is a spirit of comparison and rejection.
1. What I’ve found helpful is journaling- writing down the little and big things I can thank God for, speaking them aloud to people to declare His goodness, revisiting those testimonies to remind myself of His faithfulness.
2. I also started going back to His Word to specific verses that reinforce how much He loves me. Write them down. Put them up.
3. I wanna encourage you to look up the meaning of your name and ask God to show you the destiny it encompasses and what He has in store for you.
He knew you even before you were in your mothers womb. (Jer 1:5)
Praying for you, whoever you are, and all reading this- to know His extravagant love deeply and truly! ❤️
Q2. Hello! Any recommendations on resources to teach my child about God? Thank you
When we first homeschooled our preschool kids, we loved “Our Father’s world”- super gentle, light, arts-based and biblically rooted.
That’s pretty much all we spent on!
I’m gonna be super honest with you- I hardly ever source for resources for kids. But most of these wonderful books etc were given and passed down to us by neighbors and friends. These are not a magical list!
– The Big Picture Children’s Bible (we got the bilingual one but it’s out of print)
– Bilingual Children’s devotional (Cliff reads in English and I, in Chinese)
– The Berenstein Bear book series- lots of great values
– Steve Green songs – great for scripture memorization though very old school
– Jana Alayra – awesome for song and dance
– CJ and friends – we love dancing to some of their praise songs!
– Streams of praise (Chinese yay!)
The best gift you can give yr child is not tuition or more expensive books or toys, but just a close relationship with God and them!
Here’s a compilation of my best recommendations for young adults and parents:

I really believe He will provide and lead you to His special curriculum tailor made for YOUR special kids!! 😃😃
YOU are your kids’ BEST teachers!
Q3. For someone who hasn’t dated for at all, now 24 years, what is your advice?
Aww, thanks for asking!
I was in your shoes, too! 😅
My best advice?
Be patient.
Stay steadfast.
Dig deep in your relationship with God.
And…
Read 10 pages of a book a day, every day.
I recommend these titles on the Personal Growth and Relationships section, and pray they’ll transform and prepare you for your season of life ahead- whether single or attached!
Q4. hi waijia, how to pray to God?
What a sincere question!
Here’s my simple answer in 3Ts:
1. THANK HIM-
for all the things that happened in your day, big and small ❤️
2. TELL HIM-
about your lost dreams, brokenness, grief, pain, disappointments, hopes.
3. TRUST HIM-
Declare that He is good and that you surrender everything into His hands.
This is what I do-
I hope this helps ❤️
Q5. How do you learn to see more of God & what He’s teaching you, in your everyday life
I write.
One of the things I’m most grateful for is learning how words have such power to shape our narratives.
When we write, we’re not merely painting emotions or processing thoughts on a page.
I believe we’re shaping stories in our heads, re-writing the narratives of our lives, gaining clarity over the nuanced lessons God has to teach us.
Through writing, we gain insights about ourselves, join dots and form ideas about the world which we might never gain- had we never had the courage to pen them on paper.
If you’ve never done so,
it:
1. Ponder over your day.
2. Choose an incident to process.
3. Share what you think God is imparting to you.
Even if it’s for 10 min at the end of your day, try it and see the difference.
Q6. no hate here, but do you think you’re extra anointed/loved by God because you’re a doctor, hence you have more testimonies and favours compared to the average joe
Whoa, thanks for this honest question!
No, I don’t think I’m extra anointed or loved by God. I think He loves us ALL deeply and extravagantly! 😘✌🏼
At Trinity Methodist Church today, I shared that interestingly, God so often uses my brokenness, failings, and walk through depression, confusion, and lack to show His lavish goodness to me.
So the greatest testimonies in my life have actually been borne from a place of tears, lack and helplessness.
Deep down, I am
convinced that we all have these amazing stories from God- My role is simply to tell them on the platforms I’ve been given, to remind us all that we each have a Heavenly Father who loves us so much.
“But how come I never experience what you do?”
We’re all different.
I know God has a unique story for you, and if you just pray, wait and seek- you’ll be surprised at how He’ll come through for you, too.
My prayer for you?
That He’ll fill your mouth with praises of His testimonies in your life,
and that you’ll know that no one is an “average Joe” in His eyes.
Today, as I shared about the widow who gave her two copper coins, I talked about how Jesus intentionally called all His disciples to Him just to highlight this widow’s humble act. He didn’t care about all the rich people who gave large amounts! (Mark 12:42-44)
Doctor or beggar, He loves us all!
Especially in our place of brokenness.
/Part three:
I felt led to add on to this after listening to a sermon by Ps Edmund Chan yesterday.
Because he said something like this,
“God does not look upon our strength as much as our submission.
He does not care about our titles, but the testimony of our obedience.”
So if you have no fancy titles, no awards, no accolades to your name… if you’re just what the world deems an “average Joe,” you’re in a good place.
The funny thing is-
when I compare myself to my peers, I’m the one without the “fancy titles.”
Since we left for missions during the year I was supposed to enter a surgical specialty, I never had the chance to go back to that.
But consistently, God has always used my greatest heartbreaks, not achievements, to show forth His glory and goodness.
❤️
