We all have triggers.
Deep down, we know they’re somewhat irrational, silly even.
Yet, triggers spiral. They become raging thought-cyclones that consume us in a split second.
Just yesterday, as I gave thanks to God for great teammates, I caught my thought-trigger, quickly escalating into an 8-lane highway of speeding cars, saying, “They will leave me someday.”
When Cliff proposed 11 years ago, around the time this photo was taken, the very same thought wrecked havoc.
But now, over a decade later, after years of hard work- of searching for its childhood origins, of reframing, re-scripting the past, the same triggers have lost their grip.
“This is a lie,” I said aloud.
“God will never leave you nor forsake you. You can trust Him,” Cliff echoed.
Today, if you’re triggered by something or someone, would you take a pause to curiously, compassionately ask yourself where that thought is from? Would you ask the Holy Spirit to reveal a verse to counter the lie?
For every lie we believe, is a truth waiting to be uncovered. After all, lies are merely attempts at fabricating truth.
And if you, like me before, are stuck in a spiral, would you ask a friend to help you identify the lie and counter it with truth?
Remember, you’re not alone. ❤️ Would you commit to setting your mind on things above?
