“I can’t.”
That was my first reaction when we were asked to pray about serving in Uganda. With the omniscient malarial and yellow fever risks on a post-liver transplant husband and no clue about the healthcare landscape in Africa, I had felt I wasn’t going to take chances, on a life that wasn’t my own.
But here we are, 3 months into our first term and an exactly a month from our 2nd anniversary, receiving a pristine set of Cliff’s blood tests, which had to be sent to South Africa for special testing for his transplant, and a clean liver panel unaltered by the effects of anti-malarials. Several mornings ago, having woken up at the crack of dawn for the an early morning adventure navigating through nasty traffic and some very convoluted dirt-roads to reach the hospital, we were immensely grateful, not only for the unexpectedly efficient and affordable services at the Ugandan hospital, but being able to reach there on time for Cliff’s time-sensitive bloodwork.
We are so grateful to all our loved ones and pastors who believed in us, but more importantly, who believed in a big God who is BIG enough to look after ALL our needs, above and beyond our imagination.
When we think we can’t, let us remember: HE CAN.
Thank you God, for a healthy husband,
and for a husband who loves surprising his wife in special, unexpected ways.
This one says,
“Happy early 2nd Anniversary, Wai Jia!”
No idea where he found a florist-
I’ve yet to see a single one in Uganda!
“And this same God who takes care of me
will supply all your needs from His glorious riches,
which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
