So for Valentine’s Day yesterday, our kids (on their own volition) decided to plan and prep a special Val’s Day “Fancy Restaurant time” that involved us enjoying their “hotel” 🥹
They made us their own menu, a fruit salad and decorated the table…

I then found out my 8-yr old packed a little gift for me. While she didn’t explain the reason behind each item, I looked at the handmade “speaker” she made for me to “play music” with and teared… She must have known about my sound sensitivity this season and thought this would be a useful gift 🥹

It was Cliff who reflected on this and shared with me— that the traditions of surprises and gifts that we lay down in our family will become lifelong building blocks in our children’s lives for them to learn what it means to be valued, loved and seen.
