✈️Comment “JOURNEY” if you’d like to journey with us as we embark on one-way tickets to Tanzania as a family.✈️
Lately, when a stranger wrote to me saying, “I REALLY need to meet you because I want to contribute financially to your family,” I struggled.
After all, we’re not currently supported financially by any organisation. All international staff at the mission hospital we are serving at must be self-funded. It made sense for me to say yes.
But when I asked God, I felt him say NO.
As I searched my heart, I felt God inviting me not to feel pressured to meet anyone because of their potential to give financially. Such is the danger of our hearts pandering to those with greater financial abilities.
I had clarity— my job is to obey the Lord and put my time wholeheartedly into that.
God’s job is to raise the funds we need.
Lately, when someone told me that he didn’t see the point of sowing into our journey because we didn’t seem to “have a plan,” a supernatural peace flooded my heart. Gentle but bold words came to me, “I’d rather obey the Lord at the risk of appearing fruitless and unproductive, then to strive after projects and programs that go against the principles of cross-cultural service and incarnational living, as Jesus did.”
He blinked thoughtfully, then smiled, “Wow.”
As I reflected on the breakthrough God had given me to be unshackled from the fear of man, tears came to my eyes. I was free.
I often wished I could say- friend, be free, too. Don’t give out of guilt or pity. Don’t put us or anyone on a pedestal.
Do it- only because He tells you to.
Whether the Lord calls you to be a prayer warrior, financial giver, a helper, or simply to stand by and watch, what’s most important is for you to discern His heart and obey wholeheartedly.
Though the widow’s two mites appeared weak and small, the Lord knew she gave her all from a place of obedience.
Thank you for walking with us.
