This morning, I was supposed to have a key meeting with my publisher from the States.
Just years ago, I’d have forgone my child’s Orientation to attend to this “MORE IMPORTANT” work meeting. After all, so many stakeholders were involved, it was hard to organize the right timing across time zones. We were on a tight timeline.
But I’m here… Slightly anxious I decided to reschedule, to have my plans pushed back, to sit through what I might feel comparatively “trivial”.
Yet I am learning – to lay aside what feels important… being there for my 6-year old, getting to know the principal even though we might attend school here for only a term before we relocate…
FEELS RIGHT.
I keep asking myself if I truly trust God. Because for all my previous efforts in charging ahead in my work, God put a big pause in my life… as if telling me, it’s OK to put a STOP to what feels important, if it’s to attend to what TRULY is important.
What are some decisions you need to make today, to make room for what TRULY is important?
Some helpful questions:
-which are you TRULY indispensible to?
-which aligns MOST with your values?
-which is IMPOSSIBLE to reschedule?
-am I operating from ANXIETY or TRUST?
