In our 7th year of marriage, I remember we hit a hard place.
After living in hard places in Africa, without regular water or electricity, after several major cross-continental moves and two children with recurrent illnesses in their early years, after two major bouts of clinical depression… we felt close to giving up.
It didn’t matter if we had a viral love story…
… Marriage has its low points.
Back then, perhaps we were too close, too enmeshed. Perhaps we didn’t know better.
But as we grew through the years, through counseling and inner healing, through shame and struggle, tears and triumphs, we made it to a better place.
When God first spoke to me to release you for a personal retreat away from home, He overwhelmed me with peace.
And as I obeyed against my wishes, He, in turn, blessed me too. 💛
Thank you for hearing God, while you were alone in the wilderness.
Thank you for re-pursuing me even after all these years.
Thank you for this early 10th anniversary gift.
Here’s to ten and many more ahead.
