I was stunned.
The day I was invited to speak to a cosy church in Singapore, was the same day I got invited as 1 of 2 guest speakers to speak on a global platform to an audience of 8000 alongside one of my all-time my favorite preachers.
I was ecstatic. Giddy with excitement. I could burst.
Earlier that week, another speaking request had come in, apologizing “I hope we are not too small for your presence.”
My heart broke, churned with heaviness. Why did she feel that way?
Yesterday, I arrived to a humble breakout room- half-filled. There were less than 20 youth.
BUT.
If I received the same invite, I would say yes again.
It was electric. Youth, wide-eyed and bristling, soaked in every word. Tears dripped. Knees pummeled down. What a hunger.
That’s all that mattered.
Weeks ago, God had asked me- would you do this for Me? If you had an audience of ten thousand or ten folks, would your message be equally pumped, filled with fire? Or would you wax and wane with the crowds, start choosing only invites that pandered to your pride?
I’m learning- that when we’re tempted to measure our worth with human weights, His delight lies in our showing up not just for the glamorous masses and glitzy platforms, but in our showing up like Jesus, in obedience for those on His heart.
I’ll always remember the hearts of those youth, the laid-down passion of the event organizers. 🥲
Productivity matters to us. But He values obedience, more.
The fruit He values, often differs from ours.
May we always be available- for the audience of One.❤️💎
Thank you for having me and @cliff.tam with you ❤️
