Back in the days before “Salt and Light” and “Thir.st” (gosh, I’m a dinosaur), I read most of my relationship advice from Boundless.
It guided my absurd encounter with my online stalker- whom I ended up marrying.
Years later, I felt a gentle nudge to give back but wasn’t sure what to do. I felt led to write to a blog reader of mine from the States, who had first left a note on my blog more than a decade ago. Looking back, I know it was the Holy Spirit who led me because-
– who could have known she had been writing for Boundless for 13 years?
“Send in your writing,” she wrote.
But the process felt like a fortress.
“We have limited opportunities to publish unsolicited work, and due to the volume we receive, we’re unable to respond to every submission.”
I’m not American. English is not my first language. In fact, I’ve only ever attended Chinese schools, all my life. I’ve never seen a non-American writer on their website.
They would not want my writing. I’m wasting my time.
“Share something you’ve written.”
With shaky faith, I did.
Today, with tear-filled gratitude, I’m grateful to be invited as Boundless’ first international writer to contribute on a regular basis.
If you, like me, are trapped by your perceived limitations of where you come from, how you look, and the heritage you carry, remember that Jesus was born in a manger. He was looked down on, despised and rejected by man (Isaiah 53:3).
He is not limited by our limitations. He loves writing fresh stories.
If you have a little dream, no matter how small, keep on keeping at it. Read books. Write a little every day. Have a little chocolate.
Take the first baby step of faith.
Because if not you, then who?
❤️Here’s dedicating my first debut piece with Boundless to Cliff, whose passion for Jesus inspires me every day – “Why I dated a transplant patient”.
“None of us are guaranteed health, success, or a problem-free existence.
The mission of my life is not self-preservation,
but to trust and obey God.”
