“You mean you just signed off on a blank cheque?”
I tried to laugh. I hadn’t thought of it that way.
But it was true that over the weeks that followed, I found myself wide-eyed at 4am in the early morning heart pounding, wondering where He would send me. I started sleeping on the hard floor again to see if I still had that same resilience in my youth for challenging living conditions.
While I couldn’t choose my place of deployment, we figured that after the first match to Congo which fell through- if we could say yes to that, we were prepared to say yes to close to anything.
Would I trust God and say yes, no matter where they sent me?
The scariest part is always the wait.
“You’re matched.”
It was a statement.
Not an invitation, as if already cast in stone.
Where was this place? How would it be like? Would I be useful?
Days later, I am discovering how God had had it all planned. From my old African clothes my parents had “accidentally” re-found, to the job description, to the culture and language of the place, they were all perfectly fitted to the experiences I had walked through years ago. How could He have known?
If you, like me before, are waiting in a place of uncertainty, feeling lost in limbo, wondering how you’ll get from where you are to where you sense God wants you to be, know this- let Faith be your vehicle.
When you don’t know how to move forward, ride on Faith like a bike. If you can trust in the WHO, He will take care of the HOW.
Faith- will always take you further. May this message, my last one before I head out, encourage you to step out, even if you may not know exactly where you’re going.
He will meet you there.
