One of the things I love about being married to you is how you choose to make a big deal about Normal, how you love to celebrate random things, how you choose the make the everyday things absolutely memorable.
It wasn’t a special occasion, it wasn’t as if we had just made up from a fight or anything like that. It’s just been a chronically trying season of life where we’ve been waiting on God for answers and dealing with uncertainty. It was just a normal day at work when I received a most “normal” email from you which brought tears to my eyes.
It was entitled, “Haven’t written to you in a long time…”, which wasn’t really true, but it did remind me of the emails you used to pen to me from Canada faithfully every day, and it touched me to know you still wanted to write to me as if I was your girlfriend. And it totally tickled me to see you ask “How are you…. 🙂 ” when we text daily almost every few hours apart:
Hi WJ,
How are you.. :)… haha… I just want to say I am very proud of you for your bravery and willingness to walk with me in this period of life as my wife, my friend, my helper, my mate, my Christian sister, my partner, as we walk together following Jesus.
I know the past few months have not been easy for you. It has been a trying time. I can see that in the next few months we might have some more obstacles we have to endure and walk through.
This is why I am so proud of you… that you are willing to journey with me in this season. I don’t feel lonely because you are with me side by side and we are holding hands every step of the way. The Lord is good. He will open doors for us that we will never expect…. AMEN 🙂
🙂
Be strong, be bold and be super duper courageous 🙂
“Be strong and very courageous.
Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for theLord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
– Joshua 1:7-9
I just love how you’re so expressive with your words and even with the pictures attached to your emails!
The next day, I came home from work late. And what a lovely surprise I got when I came to our front door to see the most creative surprise!
And just when my jaw dropped, I saw you sneak up from behind me to film my reaction!
You had been waiting for me to return home late from work.
Just incredibly grateful for your love and care for me as your wife.
Thank you cherishing me as you do yourself.
And thank God for all the blessings He’s poured upon us in this challenging phase of life,
including the gift we got yesterday at the transplant hepatologist’s clinic-
a pristine panel of blood results, a big relief from the previous visit of slightly deranged liver numbers and worrying about the outcome of changing your medication dosage.
(Thank God for the kind doctor who completely waived our consult fee too. )
It’s such a privilege to journey with you too, sweetie.
