Lately, I met with a friend whom I’d planned my solo trip with this year to scale a mountain- and suddenly realized that while I loved my friend, climbing it for 8 days while sleeping in tents without a shower, isn’t what my body needs this season.
I’m so thankful by how supportive she was for me to do a restful trip for myself.
Another friend asked me- what are you looking for in yr solo trip? To which I replied: A place where:
1. I can get a haircut with hydration treatment 🙈
2. I can walk for hours outdoors without fear of being harrassed
3. I can go to the gym without anyone blasting music beyond the healthy decibel range, without getting shouted at aggressively or physically touched. (All of which happened in a single day while Cliff was away on his solo pilgrimage to Ephesus this time)
Sometimes, I think it’s important for us to pause and ask—
Are my goals still aligned with what my body actually needs?
Just because something was once a goal… doesn’t mean it’s what we need in this season.
After a few intense months of planning for and conducting trainings, serving, and pouring out, I think I might finally take that restorative solo trip.
Maybe to Europe since it’s close by to Africa. The struggle to do so and to overcome the guilt of spending is real, but perhaps that’s also the milestone in therapy I’m arriving at.
Let’s see how this unfolds! 💛
