In my then 7-year old’s words, “On the day I turn 8, it’ll mark exactly our 8 months in Africa too!”
When she wanted a cake shaped like a Number 8 and I didn’t know how to make one… when a cake tin we bought failed us and we ran out of parchment paper, I started running out of options. I didn’t want her first birthday to feel any less than her celebrations back home.😪
But I loved her response that brought tears to my eyes, “Mama, I don’t care how your cake looks. It’ll be good because you put a lot of your love into it.” 😭😭
