On New Year’s Day, I remember lashing out at my kids and feeling like I had already failed at the start of a new year. 😣😔
But I’m learning, that it’s in times like these that we’re prone to self-blame and condemnation that we most need kindness — to others AND ourselves. ❤️🩹
If I could turn back time and tell my younger self my deepest lessons learnt, they would be these. ✏️ If you feel like you’ve already failed, this is for you 💌
1. 💌Parenting guilt is inevitable, but only keeps you trapped in the same shame cycle.
✨Modelling REPAIR after RUPTURE by authentic apology, validation of their feelings, and working through your issues is way more powerful.
2. 💌If parenting feels hard, it’s because it is. 😪
✨Breaking off generations of
hurt & trauma to re-parent yourself to parent your kids
is hard. Be kind to yourself.
3. 💌There will be times you think your kids deserve a better parent.
In your worst moments, they probably do. But God chose YOU.
✨Modelling humility for your brokenness is a gift they’ll always remember.
Share this with a parent friend if you know they need some encouragement ✨
