Back home, everything you need is a phonecall or company away.
But here, for termite extermination, we literally had to rely on a whole village for help and advice.
God sent several friends who taught us what to buy, and 2 friends who came in person to help!
Termite extermination is hard work. They say that kiling the queen is crucial, and that often, she is found in a mound outside your compound if there aren’t any visible hills in your home.

We think we found it— but there are several hills. 😩
This task took Baba C hours—
first he needed to dig a trench,
then hack the mound,
And then lace it with poison to kill the colony.

On the way to see the termite mound, a 5-year-old-sized mishap happened — here in Tanzania, spring rolls are not common. I’d bought two, one for each child, but in my 5-year old’s eagerness to see the termite mound, she tripped, fell and dropped her one and only spring roll. 😭
Before she even let out a wail, our 7-year old took half of hers and said, “See, you still got one!” 😭😭😭
“Mama, the inside of the mound looks like dinosaur bones. “
