One question that stood out at my Johns Hopkins talk last night was this-
How can I work towards my calling if I don’t know my calling?
Here’s my answer-
I think all of us enter our studies or career with the idea of having a map/blueprint of where we want to go. While that’s ideal, it can be stressful and well, unrealistic.
The truth is- we think X is where we want to go based on what we know. But that doesn’t give room for trial and error, for exploring interests, embracing failures as opportunities for discovery.
If you have a map, you’re pretty much stuck with a destination, even you find out later it’s not where you wanna go.
GET A COMPASS.
You may not know your destination, but you can get clear with your values. Your values are your compass. With that, you only need enough light for the next step.
And with a little bit of faith, you gotta trust that one step is enough to take you to the next and next and through that, you discover your calling ALONG THE WAY.
