Before we left for Africa, we wondered what would happen to Grandpa Zhou (Zhou yeye), the 80-year old limping gentleman who plays the harmonica by the train station, whom we had befriended, looked after for years and baptized recently. He, too, expressed his worry. I remember our last prayer by the dirty train steps together- we knew God would look after all his needs, with or without us.
What a lovely gift to receive on our anniversary- to hear from a friend who brought him to a clinic this week for treatment and to receive a letter and photo from a complete stranger who found my email address…
Truly, God sends His angels to look after His sheep, and when we leave to obey His call, He ensures goodness to follow those we had to leave behind.

“Dear Wai Jia,
Hope this email finds you well! I’ve been reading your blogposts for a few years now, and I wanna thank you for being so real, sharing your life and testimonies! 🙂 Your stories have blessed the hearts of many!
Anyway, I spotted Zhou yeye at Khatib train station a few times, but I didn’t know how to approach him then. I read about him from your blog, and I was so glad to see him! So I prayed and asked God how I could approach him, and… just wanna share with you… that tonight, I did!
I passed some money to him and told him that it’s for him to see the doctor (I remember you saying something like if we want to bless him with some money, we have to let him know it’s for his medication etc), and I really enjoyed talking with him! I showed him some pictures of you and Cliff (that you shared on your blog) to update him about your lives in Africa. And he commented that your hair is so long now haha!
I asked if he had anything he wanted to say to you, and that I would pass the message to you through email. He replied in mandarin that he prayed that Jesus will protect both you and Cliff in Africa from diseases like Ebola, and that both of you will remain in the pink of health! He’s so sweet 🙂 I also asked if I could take a photo of him to email it to you, and he was so adorable! He invited me to be in the picture as well :p so, please find attached a selfie of us! 🙂
You’re inspiring! Keep shining for the glory of God, and the good of mankind! 🙂
Blessed 2nd anniversary to you and Cliff!
God bless!
V”
Thank you for being willing to be made a blessing, V.
The King will reply,
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for
one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,
you did for me.’
